A few months ago, I started using my grandmother’s old house as a studio space. It’s nothing fancy at all (which is actually what I find charming), yet it has everything I need for the moment. Because of the memories it holds, it’s a very dear place to me. One of my favorite things about the house is the old screen door that leads to the back deck. I don’t know how old it is exactly, but it’s well worn and all of us have fond memories of the sound of it slamming. It’s a big part of the soundtrack of our youth, and when I was there yesterday afternoon borrowing some card tables, it occurred to me that it would be fun to start a project where I record some interesting sound byte and then accompany that with a photograph. So with that humble introduction, this is my first installment in what I’m calling “Look & Listen.” Enjoy.
